The Lycoming County Law Library has organized materials and resources for individuals who choose to represent themselves in a legal matter. Individuals who represent themselves in court proceedings are referred to as “pro se,” which in Latin means “for self.” The information provided online and in the law library may not be appropriate for your situation. The law library does not provide legal advice and should not be substituted for legal advice. If you have legal questions, you should contact a lawyer. Pro se litigants are held to the same standards as attorneys admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Representing yourself does not exempt you from understanding and following state-wide and local rules of court.

North Penn Legal Services
NPLS Provides free civil legal services to low income families in Northeast Pennsylvania. We determine your eligibility based on: the specifics of your case or legal needs, your household income, and where you live (not all services are available in all counties). Please apply on-line or by phone only to see if you qualify for help.

Lycoming Law Association
The Lycoming Law Association is a non-profit, professional association of about 200 Lycoming County attorneys. They provide services and resources to their members to assist them in the practice of law and engage them in activities that promote the public's understanding of and respect for the law. They encourage their members to be active participants in their community, through public service, charitable efforts and pro bono involvement.
They serve the legal community in many ways: offering local continuing legal education opportunities; compiling and reporting local legal news and announcements; indexing and posting county court opinions and local rules; providing an attorney directory; and, by providing access and links to regional legal resources. Their members gain access to valuable resources and programs including discounted services, no-cost use of our conference facilities, a directory listing, networking events and more.

Pennsylvania Bar Association
How it Works:
- Click/Call – Fill out the online form or call 800-692-7375 between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday and describe your legal issue.
- Confirm – Receive an immediate referral to an attorney suited to handle your case.
- Connect – Contact the attorney. The initial 30 minute consultation will cost not more than $30.
