Mary Lu McGlothlin, 65 of Hillsgrove passed away at her home on July 22, 2004 with her family at her side. Lu was born November 8, 1938 in Williamsport, the daughter of Chester S. and Connie Sincavage Siegel. She attended Sullivan Co. schools graduating from Turnpike High School in Mildred a member of the class of 1956. Some of her fondest early memories were accompanying her father on his forestry patrols near Ricketts Glen and Keystone Observatory.

Lu served in the U. S. Air Force were she met her loving husband Ray (Mac) McGlothlin. They raised two children, Chuck and Vikki in several locations within the U. S., Montana, Texas and New Mexico being only a few. They also lived in Japan giving them the opportunity to travel abroad.

After Mac retired from the Air Force they settled back to familiar territory for Lu. Both accepted positions as caretakers for the Little League Summer Camp at Green Acres in Hillsgrove where they have dedicated themselves to countless children from around the world for the last 18 years.

Lu and Mac sought out ways to support their local communities. Both started with taking EMT Basic Classes where they have been immersed in the local EMS System ever since, making them both one of the most recognized EMS Teams in the Lycoming, Tioga, and Sullivan EMS Council Region.

Lu has been the Ambulance Captain of the Hillsgrove VFC Ambulance, Fire Company Secretary, a primary Instructor for every EMT and First Responder Class in Sullivan County for over 10 years. She was an active EMT Evaluator in the LTS Region, President of the Sullivan County EMS Council, Member of the LTS Regional Advisory Committee, Active CISM Team Member, served as AED Coordinator for the Hillsgrove VFC, Hillsgrove Bureau of Forestry and World’s End State Park, and has served as the Sullivan County Chief Deputy Coroner since January of 2000. She coordinated all continuing education activities for the Hillsgrove VFC and was often requested to instruct for other local EMS Services. She was recently awarded the Statewide George Morekirk MD Senior Volunteer of the Year Award, and is a past recipient of the Sullivan County EMS Instructor of the Year, Sullivan County Volunteer of the Year, Sullivan County EMT of the Year, and received the 2004 Sullivan County Outstanding Service Award. She was involved in her church and other civic organizations, and still found time to be a tremendous and loyal friend and confidante to many close to her.

She is survived by her husband Mac McGlothlin, at home; a Son and Daughter-in-law,Chuck and Laura McGlothlin of Rockledge, FL, a daughter, Vikki McGlothlin, also of Rockledge, FL, a sister and spouse: Betty Jane & Gerald Doyle of Mildred, PA, an uncle Stephen Chuba, Girardville, PA, an aunt: Elva Sincavage, Girardville, PA. A niece and a nephew and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, David Siegel in 1947.
