Passports

The Staff in the Prothonotary Office is here to assist you as you prepare to apply for a passport. Please use the information below as a checklist of what you will need to bring with you to complete the process.

Passport Book

What you will need to bring with you:

Proof of U.S. Citizenship

  • State certified birth certificate, long form only (mother and father’s names must be included)
  • To get you birth certificate, visit the Pennsylvania Department of Vital Records/Birth Certificates or Out-of-state Vital Records or contact your local state Senator/Congressman to expedite.

Proof of Identity

  • Valid photo driver’s license, state ID or expired passport
  • If an applicant or the parents/legal guardians of a minor presents an out-of-state driver’s license, additional identification is required such as:
    1. Health Insurance Card
    2. Military ID
    3. School/college ID
    4. Social security card
    5. Work ID

Photographs

  • One recent color passport photo (2) inches square
  • Passport photos are taken in the Prothonotary office for an $11.50 fee

Fees

  • 16 years of age and over: $110.00 (10 year passport)
  • You will need a check made payable to the U.S. Department of State and a check, cash or money order for the Execution fee of $35.00, made payable to the Lycoming County Prothonotary
  • 15 years of age and under: $80.00 for a five year passport as well as the check, cash or money order for the $35.00 Execution fee made payable to the Lycoming County Prothonotary.
  • For U.S. passport applications for children 15 years of age and under, both parents must be present. Both parent’s names must also appear on the state certified birth certificate

All applicants must appear in person regardless of age

Processing Times

The processing time is approximately four (4) to six (6) weeks from receipt by the Philadelphia Passport Agency. If you would like you passport sooner, you may request expedite service for an additional cost of $60.00. This will speed your processing time to two (2) to (3) weeks from receipt by the passport office. For an additional fee of $15.89, after two weeks the passport office will overnight the passport back to you. No passports are delivered to PO Box numbers or to overseas addresses. You must have street mailing address.

You may fill out your passport application online and then bring in the completed form, along with all required documents to speed up the processing time.

Fees

  • 16 years of age and over: $30.00 (10 year card) & you will need a check payable to the Department of State and a check, cash or money order for the $35.00 execution fee, made payable to the Lycoming County Prothonotary
  • 15 years of age and under: $15.00 (5 year card), check payable to the Department of State and a check, cash or money order for the $35.00 Execution fee to the Lycoming County Prothonotary.
  • For U.S. passport applications for children under, both parents must be present and their names must also be on the certified birth certificate.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPEAR IN PERSON REGARDLESS OF AGE
